STAMP OF APPROVAL

A vast and original, unpicked collection of King George VI British Commonwealth stamps in mint condition was one of outstanding items consigned to auction on a dark and stormy night at one of Lockdales’ final Valuation Roadshow events of 2022. King George VI was the first Head of the Commonwealth, and as a result Commonwealth stamps are collector favourites among George VI enthusiasts. Our valuer James Sadler said of the collection ‘Seldom seen on the market in such complete untouched condition with all rarities still present. The lifetime collection of a passionate stamp collector.’ Several album pages from the collection are pictured below.

Keen philatelists will have the chance to bid on this amazing collection when it comes under the hammer at Lockdales' first auction of 2023 - Coins, Medals, Weapons, Militaria and Paper Collectables on 19-20 January.

Our team of valuers will be on the road again at the beginning of January starting with Roadshows in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cumbria. Bring your items along for a free valuation when we are in your area. If you have any similar items you'd like to have valued or would like more information, please don't hesitate to contact our valuer, James Sadler.
