PMG Graded Notes

A special auction of PMG encapsulated banknotes.

Auction 292: The Lockdales PMG Graded Banknote Sale, 8th May 2025

Lockdales are pleased to announce a Banknote Sale featuring exclusively notes graded and encapsulated by third-party grader Paper Money Guarantee®.

Third-party grading is a rapidly growing area in banknote collecting and investment, providing many benefits including clarity of condition, protection from accidental damage, and guaranteed authenticity. PMG are the leading company in this field, with a reputation trusted by many dealers and collectors.

Our auction features a wide range of world notes including British Commonwealth with many Queen Elizabeth II and King George V & VI portraits.

There are also a good number of items with the top grade currently recorded on PMG's population report 'TOP POP', including a very rare Barbados $100 issued 1973 - a replacement note with Z1 prefix. This is the ONLY example of this note currently on PMG, graded at 64 Choice Uncirculated.

In addition - a Bahamas $100 1992 signed J.H. Smith graded 67 EPQ Superb Gem Uncirculated - the only example of this note given the PMG 67 grade currently.

Another rarity in the sale is a Trinidad & Tobago $10 1939 with the 1st prefix 1A, an exceptionally rare and seldom seen date. The auctioneer can find only one other example having sold at a major auction in recent years, in a lower grade than this example and which hammered at $6000. This is one of just 3 graded by PMG and is another of the TOP POP examples in this sale.
