19-20 May Auction of Coins & Collectables achieved total sales of
3217 lots were offered. Highlights included £2700 hammer for the DFM group of Sgt R.F. Jessop RAF, £420 hammer for the Highland Light Infantry plaid brooch, lot 517, and £1700 hammer for the nicely displayed lot ofKings Royal Rifle Corps badges, lot 561. Japanese and Chinese swords proved very popular, and a Officer's Madras Horse Artillery sword, lot 982, went for £1900 hammer. The highest price for a football programme in the sale was £850 hammer for lot 1084: Manchester United v West Bromwich Albion 15 Jan. 1921. An ancient Scythian iron sword c.600-500 B.C, lot 1445, sold for £1200 hammer. A large Suffragette badge, lot 2146, sold for £500 hammer. The star section of the sale was once again the cards from the David Murray Collection of Woven Silk Postcards; for example: Lot 2536: Flames, Metz la Cathedrale by Deffrene was estimated at just £40 to £50. The hammer went down at £950! Overall the prices were exceptional in the postcard sections and we look forward to offering the final selection of the David Murray Collection next time.

The next auction of Coins & Collectables will take place 14-15 July, with consignment open until 1st June.
