one-day Fine Sale on 8th April achieved total sales of £165,000
So much material has been coming in for our fine art sales we had to schedule an extra auction in April to make room! Once again it was an auction full of surprises and sleeper lots such as musical instruments making well above estimate. A violin by Joseph Guarini 1884 (est. £600-£700) went for £3200 hammer. An old concertina, lot 866, estimated at £100 to £200, sold for £2200 hammer. An attractive Colman's Mustard advertising sign, believed to have been painted by A.J. Munnings, sold for £2500, against an estimate of £500 to £800. The "Giles" original, lot 786, named Happy Birthday From Grandma achieved a spectacular price of £1800 hammer (estimate £400-£600).
Our next auction will be Coins & Collectables (#145) 20-21 May. Consignment closes this week, 13 April. Keep a lookout for the online catalogue in early May.
The next Fine Sale of jewellery, watches, art and antiques will be taking place 14-15 June, with consignment open until 8 May.
