have just had a very successful auction in March, achieving sales of
Star lots included the 1795 American Silver Dollar which achieved a hammer price of £23,500 against an estimate of £5000 to £8000. A Harvey White Fiver of Plymouth made £3400 hammer, and there were many highlights amongst the medals, badges, programmes, weapons, coins and postcards. Early football programmes were going for hundreds of pounds above estimate, such as Lot 1140: Manchester United v Yeovil and Peters 8th Jan 1938 FA Cup 3rd Round, estimated at £50 to £60, the hammer went down at £360. Lot 2810, a group of just 14 photographic cards of the Titchfield Carnival 1912 (Est. £50-£60) went for £540 ! Unusual and exotic weapons such as a Maori fighting staff (lot 1660) well exceeded expectations, selling for £700.
