140th Auction of Coins & Collectables, 19-20 November 2016, achieved total
sales of £416,440
Highlights of the sale included lot 653, the medals and ephemera to Superintendent William Melville, the original "M" of MI5, which sold for £4400 hammer (£5160 including premium) to a family descendent in the United States, whose middle name is Melville! This lot was featured in international media such as this article on the Daily Mail website.
The auction was a great success all round, with the market for collectables proving to be enduringly strong at this time. We look forward to presenting collections of medals and shieldback sovereigns in January amongst much other material already consigned. The next Fine Sale of jewellery, watches, art and antiques will be in February, also shaping up to be a fantastic sale, we'll keep you posted.
